The Teaching of History

Our History Leader is Mrs Tara Fear
History at Hoyland Springwood
Welcome to our primary school's history corner! Here, we embark on a captivating journey through time, where young minds can discover the wonders of the past. Our goal is to ignite curiosity and lay the foundation for a lifelong love of history. At our school, we believe that history is a gateway to understanding the world around us. Through engaging and age-appropriate lessons, we introduce our young learners to key historical events, influential figures, and the vibrant tapestry of cultures that have shaped our society.

Our teachers recognise the importance of making history come alive for everyone. We use a combination of interactive teaching methods, stories, and visual aids to captivate their imaginations. By encouraging active participation and critical thinking, we empower our students to become budding historians, eager to explore and unravel the mysteries of the past.

Our chronological curriculum covers various periods, from ancient civilizations to more recent historical milestones. Through exciting projects, hands-on activities, and creative assignments, we help pupils develop a solid understanding of historical concepts and encourage them to ask questions, analyse information, and form their own perspectives.

We also encourage our students to engage in enrichment activities either in school or through visits to museums and experiences providing pupils with a deeper understanding of different time periods and develop empathy for those who came before us.

Together, let's unlock the mysteries of the past, nurture a passion for history, and inspire the historians of tomorrow.
