Integrated Resourced Provision - With Access to Mainstream School
We believe
All children have the right to access the same opportunities as their peers and benefit from the modelling that takes place in a mainstream setting. Our aim is to provide a positive and enjoyable school experience in which our pupils can learn, and to enable them to benefit from a mainstream school as well as providing specialist input relevant to each child’s needs as a young person with autism. We celebrate the talents and achievements of our children and aim to create a calm and happy atmosphere for them.
What is the Integrated Resource Provision?
Hoyland Springwood Resource Provision is a small specialist provision which caters for 16 pupils with Autism and Communication interaction difficulties and who are supported by an EHCP. They are still part of the mainstream classroom but this is driven by the child and what they are comfortable with accessing. The resource provision has its own classroom which allows the Teacher and support team reduce learning pace and breakdown learning into small manageable chunks, providing a more structured educational placement in order to develop their true potential. The Resource provision is set within Hoyland Springwood Primary school and is part of the main building ensuring child can mix with other peers within school. The school is relatively small in number, which enables a quiet and nurturing environment to be created.
What we do
We deliver the national curriculum at the academic level of each child, whilst their Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) targets which are outlined within their EHCP are supported through small group or 1.1 intervention. We have high quality staff who are well trained - Sensory recognition, Autism awareness and adaptations, Team teach de-escalation, to meet the needs of the children. We provide structures that help with the organisation and making sense of what can be a very confusing world.
We provide a variety of learning environments to address the pupils' very specific learning needs. We adopt a multidisciplinary approach that is informed by the principles of the I do, we do, you do approach which is mirrored from mainstream school. This is then underpinned through specific SEN support strategies. We provide each child with SEND Targets that supports their individual EHCP targets set out in their plan. Parents and professionals are welcome to visit the school to see the provision offered.

Admissions
For a child to gain a place in the Resource Provision they will need to have an annual review in line with the Local authority policy and SEN Code of practice and within this Specialist provision will need to be requested. This will then be considered by the Local Authority ORG panel which will then decide on future placements for children. Applying for the mainstream school will not automatically grant your child a place or mean that your child can transfer to the provision. The provision caters for all children across Barnsley and is subject to a consultation visit/ review by the SENCO.
