Travelling to Hoyland Springwood
As a caring school we are always looking at ways to celebrate and encourage effective and healthy forms of transport to and from school.
To promote this we take part in Modeshift STARS which is a national accreditation scheme that recognises schools that have demonstrated excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable travel.
We take part in this as we are always looking to ensure:
* pupils are healthy
* safer for pupils as there are less cars around the school
* clearer air
* improved independence
As a school we have been recognised for our efforts and we have been now awarded the MODESHIFT STARS PLATINUM award in 2021. Our school has also been awarded the Local Authority's SCHOOL OF THE YEAR (2021 - 2022, 2022 - 2023 and 2023 - 2024) due to the commitment shown
To support and celebrate the children, we also use Travel Tracker to encourage the children to use healthy transport at least once a week and earn badges as a thank you.
