The Curriculum at Hoyland Springwood Primary School

What does the school teach?

Hoyland Springwood Primary School’s aim is to enable all our children to reach their full potential across the whole curriculum by providing a rich, broad and relevant curriculum that embraces a range of teaching styles and experiences..
When children join our school in Foundation Stage 2, they follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum which covers seven main areas of learning (below) and provides a foundation for all other learning.
  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Physical development
  • Communication and language
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design
As children move to KS1 and until they leave us in Year 6, they follow the National Curriculum. Further information about the National Curriculum can be found on the DfE website
