MFL at Hoyland Springwood
Welcome to the Languages webpage for Hoyland Springwood Primary School. At our school, our intent is to create a strong and diverse MFL curriculum that enables our pupils to develop skills and confidence in Spanish. Our aim is to foster a love for language learning, with an emphasis on practical communication skills and an understanding of diverse cultures and customs related to Spanish-speaking communities.
Our Spanish curriculum, which is designed for pupils in Key Stage 2 using Language Angels, focuses on developing the four core language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The curriculum follows a structured approach, starting with basic vocabulary and progressing gradually to more complex grammar and language use. Our lessons include a variety of activities, such as language games, songs, role plays, and cultural activities. We also incorporate opportunities for pupils to develop their language skills through cross-curricular learning, such as linking geography and history to Spanish-speaking countries.
We also provide a range of resources to support pupils in their language learning, including textbooks, online resources, and authentic materials, such as videos and songs to provide students with an engaging and exciting curriculum.
