Supporting Parents at Springwood
Together We Shine
Hoyland Springwood is committed to working in partnership with parents and carers. The school's ethos is 'Together We Shine' and a major part of our togetherness is with our parents.
Parents are invited to join us on a Friday morning for our Celebration Assembly and to enjoy a cup of tea beforehand. There are also many opportunities for parents to get involved in both curriculum events and social activities throughout the school year. Further information will be sent home via school newsletters and the a schools Facebook page
Our door is always open
We have a Parent Support Adviser, Mrs Sarah Johnson, who can provide advice and support for parents on a wide range of subjects. If you have any queries regarding your child and his/her learning, please speak to his/her class teacher in the first instance. If you require advice or support of a more pastoral nature, please contact Mrs Johnson (PSA) or Mrs Hunt, Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Our Parent Support Advisor works every day and is available for you or your child to come and speak to about any queries or problems, whether school related or otherwise. Our Parent Support Advisor works along with Social Services, the Health Service (e.g. School Nurses; Health Visitors; Adult Mental Health), CAMHS (Children, Adolescence and Mental Health Services) and other agencies where appropriate.

The Thrive Approach
As a Thrive school we always promote children’s and young people’s positive mental health by helping adults know how to be and what to do in response to their differing and sometimes distressed behaviour. Based on established neuroscience, attachment theory and child development, the Thrive Approach® equips adults with the knowledge, insights and resources needed to develop the relationships that help children and young people to flourish and learn. |
Understanding Feelings
Being able to understand what any child is feeling and putting language to is is key to ensuring that children can feel validated about how they feel.
