Special Educational Needs and Disability Information at Hoyland Springwood
Special Educational Needs and Disability Information Welcome to Hoyland Springwood Primary School’s Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) information pages. Our school SENCO is: Mrs Kerry Hoyle
Hoyland Springwood Primary School is committed to ensuring that it values the abilities and achievements of all children and adults who access it and is committed to providing, for each individual, the best possible environment for development and learning.
Our commitment to Inclusive practice for all children has been recognised in the IQM awards that we have received. Our school continues to be classed as Centre of Excellence.
Quote from the review May 2023:
It was certainly apparent that school leaders employ their philosophy that Hoyland is all about the whole child and not just the data. They find a way to include every child and help make them SHINE.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Hoyland Springwood Primary School as part of their Centre of Excellence review. It continues to be a highly inclusive school with dedicated staff who truly care for the students. It is clear from the review process that the leaders continue to prioritise inclusion.
Quote from the latest review June 2024:
Leaders, staff, and Governors at Hoyland Springwood are committed to providing aspirational opportunities for every child, with inclusion embedded at its core, and in doing so, provide a curriculum where, “their (pupils’) strengths and weaknesses are recognised, and environments and teaching are adapted for children to thrive.
rom my arrival and taking my first step into the school building, meeting leaders, staff, and pupils, it became clear that the whole school ethos (SHINE) underpins and permeates every aspect of school life.

Integrated Resource Provision
Children who attend this provision are from across the whole of Barnsley and places are applied for through the EHC team at Barnsley local authority. There is a separate classroom which children access when required, to follow the National Curriculum at their pace and the level at which they are working at. Children within the provision can and still access mainstream lessons as and when is appropriate for them. |
The Hub
The Hub is a complex needs provision which follows the No Boundaries curriculum. This is a specifically designed unit, designed to develop life skills, independence and a further understanding of the world. Each child has the curriculum built around them and the areas that they are interested in and require support in improving. This provision also serves the whole of Barnsley which can only be applied for through the EHC team at Barnsley Local authority |
Any queries in relation to provision for children with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities should be directed to Mrs Kerry Hoyle, SENCO in the first instance.
Any complaints should follow the ECM Trust Complaints Policy.
