IQM Flagship School For Inclusion
In 2022 we received the IQM Inclusion mark but also became classed as a Centre of Excellence due to excellent inclusive ethos and practices in school.
We have been thrilled to maintain the IQM award and Centre of Excellence for the last 3 years.
In June 2025, we became recognized even more by IQM and became a Flagship school due to level of commitment shown and continuous drive to improve the inclusive practices within the school.

- The skillset and expertise of staff in establishing an exemplary curriculum for ALL is also recognised and celebrated externally, particularly for those pupils who require a bespoke and tailored curriculum offer accessing specialist provision as and when required, thus demonstrating a flexible and responsive approach by staff in order to meet individualised need.
- The curriculum is ambitious, fluid and agile curriculum with freedom, ownership and acceptance to deviate from any usual pattern of learning to enable success for all.
- The One Life programme itself marries beautifully with Hoyland Springwoods already exemplary PSHE curriculum emphasising safeguarding and personal development.
- Leaders prioritise fostering a school culture where personal development is prioritised and visibly impacts positively on the behaviour and attitudes of every child. One Life is the "golden thread" throughout the curriculum, emphasising personal development from the moment children begin their education at Hoyland Springwood.
- Leaders have worked tirelessly to ensure the revised and remapped curriculum documentation continues to meet needs whilst making links between and with specialised programmes, Development Matters, and the National Curriculum. The detailed and thorough planning is exemplary.
- Pupils are at the heart of all decisions made, with the aim being that every pupil is afforded a quality, bespoke curriculum, taught by expert staff who are not only skilled practitioners, but compassionate, empathetic, and sensitive to the needs of the community.
- In championing an holistic approach to teaching and learning, the wellbeing of all is recognised and prioritised, embedding a range of interventions and strategies to ensure needs are met. In doing so, children demonstrate increased confidence and raised self-esteem in order to be able to articulate themselves confidently and as a result, achieve exceptionally well and make progress in the widest sense across the curriculum and in the outside world.
